LPR found evidence of Protasevich’s involvement in war crimes in the Donbass | Donbass Insider
Through judicial cooperation with Belarus, the LPR (Lugansk People’s Republic) obtained evidence of Roman Protasevich’s involvement in war crimes committed by the neo-Nazi Azov battalion in Donbass in 2014-2015. At the same time, the DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) has launched its own investigation to verify whether Protasevich was involved in crimes against civilians in the Republic while serving in Shirokino, near Mariupol.
As a reminder, in early June, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared that he would allow DPR and LPR investigators to come and question Roman Protasevich about possible war crimes he committed in the Donbass while serving in the neo-Nazi Azov battalion.
This de facto recognition by the DPR and LPR was followed by action, as the LPR General Prosecutor, in cooperation with the Belarusian judicial authorities, obtained enough evidence to consider prosecuting Roman Protasevich before the ECHR (European Court of Human Rights) and the ICC (International Criminal Court).
