Syria: Armed Forces mark Independence Day
Damascus, SANA – The Army and Armed Forces marked the 69th anniversary of Syria’s independence and the evacuation of French occupation, pledging to continue along the footsteps of their forefathers who sacrificed much for Syria’s independence, sovereignty, and unity.
Unit commanders and heads of facilities delivered speeches on this occasion, vowing to continue fighting against terrorism, plots of division, conspiracies, and the new forms of colonialism and hegemony.
Celebrations on this occasion included military displays and drills and sports activities, in addition by artistic performances by the Military Theatre troupe and military bands.
The Veterans League also marked Independence Day with a festivity in which participants recalled the heroics and bravery of the forefathers, which are setting an example for the army today in its battle against terrorism.
